Competitive Energy Rates for Merrimack County Municipalities

Merrimack County Community Power allows cities and towns in our county to lower electricity rates and expand  renewable energy options for their customers.


Merrimack County Delegation adopted the Merrimack County Community Power Plan in 2024. Thus far, the towns of Bow, Northfield, Wilmot, and the City of Franklin have voted to join our program. Any town within the County may join Merrimack County Community Power by Select Board vote. Merrimack County Community Power webpage

Granite Basic is the default supply option for Merrimack County Community Power customers. Any resident or business in Merrimack County is welcome to participate.

How Community Power Works

Merrimack County Community Power combines the buying power of residents and businesses so that together we can achieve competitively priced electricity. Customers are always free to choose to buy power from their utility provider or another market option, by submitting notice in advance of their next utility meter read date. ​​​By accessing the power market, we can control price volatility and choose which energy sources to buy or build
