Competitive Energy Rates for Merrimack County Municipalities

Merrimack County Community Power allows cities and towns in our county to lower electricity rates and expand  renewable energy options for their customers.

How Community Power Works

Merrimack County Community Power combines the buying power of residents and businesses so that together we can achieve competitively priced electricity.

  • In advance of the launch of Merrimack County Community Power, all customers within our participating towns of Bow, Northfield, Wilmot, and the City of Franklin will be mailed a notice containing information about their electricity rates and energy supply choice options.

  • The towns of Bow, Northfield, Wilmot, and the City of Franklin will be holding public information sessions to answer questions about the program:

    • 6:30 PM on August 21 at Wilmot Public Library, 11 N. Wilmot Road, Wilmot NH 03287

    • 6PM on August 23 at Baker Free Library, 509 South Street, Bow, NH 03304

    • 6PM on August 26 at Franklin Lodge of Elks,  125 S. Main Street, Franklin, NH 03235

    • 6PM on August 27 at Northfield Town Hall, 21 Summer Street, Northfield, NH 03276

  • All customers in the participating communities have until September 25th - when Merrimack County Community Power launches! - to consider whether you opt-out, opt-in.

    • Most customers currently on Eversource, NHEC, or Unitil default supply service do not have to take any action to benefit from the lower electricity rates;  Merrimack County Community Power will begin serving customers on the date that their utility reads their meter on or after October 1, 2024.

    • Select customer groups are not eligible for automatic enrollment (Exceptions to Automatic Enrollment listed below) but may choose to opt-in.

    • Customers seeking higher renewable content may choose to opt-up.

  • After the launch of Merrimack County Community Power, customers are always free to choose to buy power from their utility, or from another market option, by submitting notice in advance of their next utility meter read date.
